Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training |
|
|
The Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training (iGETT) project enables two-year college instructors to integrate remote sensing and
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in ways that support workforce training needs.
|
iGETT...
- supports 40 participants in two cohorts (July, 2007-June, 2009; June, 2008-May, 2010)
- focuses on moderate-resolution, readily available federal land remote sensing data
- addresses workforce needs in forestry, agriculture, disaster management, natural resources management, and urban planning
All participants...
- attend two Summer Institutes for a total of three weeks
- complete a full-semester on-line remote sensing course
- develop a Learning Unit that integrates geospatial technologies
- implement recruiting and community outreach activities that support geospatial education and workforce training at their institutions
A major project goal is to provide resources that will facilitate course enhancement and program development, not only at the participating
institutions, but also at other two-year colleges across the country. The bank of Learning Units, the Summer Institute training materials, and numerous
other resources will be available on the iGETT web site to all interested faculty.
iGETT is funded by the National Science Foundation, Grant DUE ATE #0703185.
